In This Blog:

Whilst a Corgi is a great household pet to own and love, they were originally bred for herding cattle. Their compact frame and short but powerful legs with muscular thighs, make them quick and agile. Ideal for a hard day’s work on the farm.

They are an intelligent and empathetic breed who love nothing more than playing with their human family all day long. Another benefit of corgis is their amenability to receiving training due to their herding background.

If you get a Corgi, you won’t ever look back! They are bold but bright, loyal, and loving. So much so, that the Queen of England herself has a few corgis as pets – what an endorsement!

Next up is an England classic. Labrador Retrievers are a well-known breed and why wouldn’t they be. Have you seen their adorable faces?

Originally, they were bred as water-based dogs. They would help fishermen with hauling their nets, fetching ropes, and retrieving fish.

Nowadays, they are bred as gun dogs to work alongside gamekeepers. They can also have a career as sniffer dogs, guide dogs, and even assistant dogs thanks to their sharp senses and ability to follow instructions. A seriously versatile and practical breed.

Labradors are full of love and affection and have enough to share with your whole family and even your friends who come to visit. When you look into their eyes, it’s hard not to fall in love with their kind natured personality and cute expressions.

But don’t mistake their soft temperament and nature for being passive, as they are very athletic and have bundles of energy. Because of this they require regular exercise…although they don’t mind what form this comes in – swimming, fetch, sprint training, long walks or any other activity can work. They aren’t choosy and this will help keep them chilled and hopefully out of any mischief!

This breed is known to be one of the smartest breeds in the canine world. They are very responsive to training and have very high intelligence.

This breed is a small but very active and agile herding dog. They originated from the harsh, remote area of Shetlands Island in Scotland. They are very bright, eager to please and know how to show their human family affection.

They are also world-class ranked in agility, obedience, and herding trials. So if this is something you are interested in, then this breed could be the right one for you!

A Husky is undoubtedly one of the cutest and most memeable dog breeds in the canine world. How could you stare into that fluffy face and say that they are not cute?!

Siberian Huskies are thick coated and have been used to pull sleds and gained prevalence in events such as the Iditarod due to their significant stamina and resilience.

Loyal and reliable, this breed gained its initial fame when the breed heroically brought lifesaving serums to combat a diphtheria epidemic in Nome, Alaska – travelling hundreds of miles in a matter of days! So great was their feat that there is a statue still standing in Central Park, NY, of Balto – the most famous husky of the run!

Like any dramatic breed, they are nimble footed and quick on their feet, but you can bet that if they do something wrong, they will look at you all mischievous but be too cute to get mad at!

They can make a great household pet and are known to get on with other dogs whilst living with them. Do take note, however, that they are high energy dogs who need tons of exercise. This will usually mean you need to secure a large outdoor play area or take them on frequent excursions to prevent them from becoming restless.

Owning a gorgeous Husky will provide you with hours of fun but also a heart full of love.

Now, these are amongst the biggest dog breeds in the Canine Kingdom. But do not be put off by their size. They are a very loving and obedient, but most of all, they have a very sweet temperament. Especially around children.

They love the water and excel in anything based on water due to their webbed feet and their water repellent coat. Swimming is practically their second nature!

They can adapt quite well to living in a home happily with a loving family to care for them. However, they still need to have a large enough outdoor area to be able to stretch their legs and play around.

These dogs may be very big and sometimes weigh more than you, but this also comes with them having the biggest heart and loving their trusting humans.

This cute, bubbly, affectionate breed was originally bred to help with the hunts and chase foxes out of hiding before this sport was banned. They are now a very well-loved family pet, enjoying the household pet life.

Even though they are not bred to hunt, dig, or chase anymore, you can bet that if they get a chance, they will dig a hole or chase a rabbit they find. They still hold their high energy levels so plenty of exercise for these gorgeous pooches is needed if you are to fall in love with one after this!

These dogs, also known as Sausage Dogs, originated from Germany. They come in two different sizes and three different coat types with various colours of their coat.

These dogs are also smart and vigilant, but they still make amazing household pets with a loving nature but will have that mischievous and cheeky side of them will come through.

Lastly, we have this muscular but sweet pooch. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Despite them being originally bred for dog fighting and bullbaiting, they will be sweet and loving towards you and your family. Trained correctly, they will be a loving dog and show no previous history of what they were originally bred for. Therefore, it is important to socialise your new puppy to other puppies and dogs as soon as they are old enough to leave their home.
